Cancer Check Labs is performing a cancer screening test that can detect any solid tumor from a simple blood draw through the capture, detection, and identification of atypical circulating tumor cells (CTCs). The candidate who joins Cancer Check Labs will be laying the foundation for our fight against cancer. This is a unique opportunity to build a clinical laboratory and team from the ground up.

Primary Responsibilities

Reporting to the executive team and Medical Director, the Lab Manager will:

1. Recruit, hire, train, and assess the competency of staff to enable operational success and regulatory compliance.

2. Effectively supervise laboratory personnel, ensure instruments are maintained, oversee quality assurance and quality control, and adhere to all safety and regulatory standards.

3. Manage activities of medical lab scientists and medical technologists to ensure a smooth laboratory workflow.

4. Solve problems and troubleshoot to ensure shift-to-shift continuity and viability of patient samples.

5. Guide staff, enabling the accurate, efficient completion of instrument maintenance, quality control, non-conforming event management, and record-keeping.

6. Schedule staff, arrange coverage for staff absences, and cover lab in emergencies.

7. Develop and maintain laboratory standard operating procedures.

8. Ensure that the laboratory information system functions accurately.

9. Maintain laboratory budget, monitor inventory levels, and procure supplies, materials, and coordinated equipment repair.

10. Oversee all analytical validations.

11. Assure CLIA compliance and adhere to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, and policies to ensure patient privacy, laboratory safety, and testing reliability.

Desired Education, License, Experience, and Abilities

 

1. Advanced degree in clinical laboratory science, medical technology, chemical, physical, or biological science from an accredited institution.

2. Five years in a CLIA-regulated environment for high-complexity laboratory testing.

3. Experience managing and developing 5+medical lab scientists and medical technologists.

4. Experience directly conducting tests in a clinical cytology, pathology, immunohistochemistry, or cytopathology laboratory.

5. Prior experience with assays that utilize staining with Pap, Brightfield, and immunofluorescence.

6. Prior experience with assays that utilize multiplex microscopy and imaging.

 

 Full time in-person role at 1303 Medical District Dr., Dallas, TX 75207

 Compensation: $125K to $175K based onexperience
