Today's screenings have many challenges. There are five primary screens used for common cancers that typically begin between the ages of 40-75. These include mammograms, colonoscopies, lung CTs, PSA test, and pap smears. But many cancers do not have a screening available such as pancreas, stomach, bladder, kidney, liver, brain, etc; thus making them difficult to detect early.
The current 5 primary screens are invasive, require prep time, and the imaging relies on seeing cancer in an image (ultrasound, CT, X-ray, endoscopic cameras, etc) in order to detect cancer. Unfortunately, cancer forms and will sometimes spread through the body (metastasis) well before it can be detected on imaging.
